Recently I have been inspired to complete the oil paintings that were hiding away and, once revealed to the light, called me to finish them!
Here is the first couple of them.
“Twilight Pond Silhouettes” On a visit to some friends in New Jersey for a special celebration, I took this picture (and several more that I am currently painting as well). I was so inspired by the beauty of the bare trees in stark contrast to the beautiful colors of the sun going down. As the colors warmed the sky, they seemed to infuse somewhat of a rosy glow onto the branches, making them come more alive, even seeming to dance under the strokes of the Master Artist’s brush. I love how a lone couple of pine trees stand proudly adorned among their bare deciduous skeleton companions.
“Pleasure Point Panorama” This is the third in a series I’ve painted from photos taken on my first visit exploring Pleasure House Point Park in Virginia Beach off Shore Drive. I’ve added the other two below so you can see them all together. I love the diversity of this park, where you can see not only the Bay, the marshy areas, and the enclosed ponds, but enjoy watching herons fishing near the shores alongside a few random fishermen, unbothered by kayakers and paddle boarders skimming silently by in the background. None snuck into these paintings, but more surprises will be coming in the future. Keep watch! And in the meantime… Enjoy!
