Many people I’ve taught were eager to start expressing their creative self in a new way. Quite a few seemed to be in a nurturing profession (nurses, teachers, caregivers, moms and grandmothers) and said it was time to do something just for themselves now – to nurture their own spirit and soul. Others were in transition in some part of their lives and needed some extra validation and grounding, or even to develop some courage as they dealt with some difficult place in life. I’ve also had husbands and wives come paint together and appreciate their different styles of painting. One student brought her grandson to paint his own painting, which turned out great!
Even the analytical and engineer types are surprised what can happen when they move from linear thinking to a more organic flow in the Impressionist painting style. But even their linear skills are honored and combined with some of the village scenes, architectural buildings, boats or other painting topics where a more exact perspective is useful.
So whatever your reason, whatever your type, style or preference, there is something for just about everyone to discover and paint, young and old alike!
